Batesville Crisis Stabilization Unit

Mississippi’s Crisis Stabilization Unit provides stabilization and treatment services to persons who are in a psychiatric crisis. Individuals can receive involuntary and voluntary treatment at a Crisis Stabilization Unit. After treatment, patients will be connected with their local Community Mental Health Center. Communicare

Communicare is a community mental health center that offers a variety of outpatient clinical services, including:

  • Childcare Services
  • Prevention Services
  • Crisis Services
  • Behavioral Services
  • Substance Abuse Services

The organization also operates a group home for women who have serious mental illness and a residential substance abuse center and provides school-based services in several public educational systems. Visit Communicare’s website for a complete listing of services.

Communicare also coordinates the Mobile Crisis Response Teams for Lafayette County. For individuals experiencing a mental health emergency, this team is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. To contact the Mobile Crisis Response Team call 1-866-837-7521.

This helpline is available for individuals that would like to receive information about mental health, intellectual and developmental disability, and substance abuse services available in Mississippi. It is also available for individuals who would like to register any concerns about mental health services.

National Alliance on Mental Illness Mississippi

The mission of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is to improve the quality of life of persons living with serious mental illness along with their friends and families. NAMI Mississippi is made up of family members, peers, behavioral health professionals and friends working to accomplish that mission through mutual support, education, advocacy and research.

The organization offers several support groups for individuals living with mental illness and for individuals with loved ones living with mental illness. For more information on these groups, visit NAMI’s website.

North Mississippi State Hospital

The North Mississippi State Hospital (NMSH) is an acute care psychiatric facility offering treatment and services for mentally ill adult men and women in northeast Mississippi. The 50-bed hospital, located in Tupelo, is part of the Mississippi Department of Mental Health.
