If you discover someone that you believe to be deceased, call 911 and report the suspected death to law enforcement. Unattended, unnatural and unexpected deaths located outside of a care facility must be responded to by a law enforcement officer and an ambulance must be dispatched to the scene, prior to requesting investigation by the Lafayette County Coroner.
In the instance of a hospice death, the next of kin and/or primary caregiver should report the death to the servicing hospice organization, who will contact the Lafayette County Coroner.
All deaths in Lafayette County are reported to the Office of the Lafayette County Coroner.
