Storm Debris & Solid Waste Collection Update
February 2, 2026
Solid Waste Collection Schedule
The Lafayette County Solid Waste Department will be running all trucks each day for trash pickup this week. All routes will operate on their regular schedule, with Wednesday being used as an additional collection day. If needed, the department is also prepared to run routes on Saturday. Please keep household garbage separate for pickup by Solid Waste.
Storm Debris Collection Update
Any debris generated by the storm within a maintained area is eligible for pickup. While vegetative debris (such as limbs and trees) will be the most common, eligibility is not limited to vegetation alone.
Debris from storm-damaged structures—including sheds, fences, and other outbuildings damaged by ice or falling trees—is also eligible. If hazardous materials (such as paint or chemicals) were stored in those structures and damaged by the storm, those materials may be included as well.
For efficient removal, all debris must be separated by type and placed at the curb according to the provided guidelines.
In short: anything created by the storm in a maintained area qualifies, as long as it is properly sorted and placed at the curb. Please see the attached graphic below:
